DEMENTIA CARE TRAINING

Are you a care partner for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other dementia? Do you work in a healthcare setting with patients or residents with Alzheimer’s or other memory change issues?

Then the Alzheimer’s Association’s free Dementia Care Training program is for you. Join us on March 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Lake County Council on Aging, 8520 East Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Ample free parking is available.

At the training you will receive an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Attendees will also learn effective communication techniques, how to engage individuals with cognitive disorders, and learn strategies for managing challenging behavior.

“Dementia care training is an opportunity to learn about Alzheimer’s disease, how to communicate, and handle difficult behaviors while caring for someone with the disease. Dementia care training also provides the opportunity to connect with other caregivers that are currently caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease,” according to Jaime Inks, education and outreach specialist.

“It is also a wonderful opportunity to be able to chat with other caregivers who may be able to provide tips that have worked for them in different situations,” she added.

Four Social Work CEUs are available. Registration is required by calling 800.272.3900.
