Project Hope for the Homeless is pleased to announce the Aqua Doc presents Jog with a Frog 5K and a 1 Mile Walk in the Park community event will be held on Saturday August 25 at 8 a.m. at Kiwanis Recreation Park in Painesville.
Aqua Doc presents Jog with a Frog 5K and a 1 mile Walk in the Park is a fun and active way to raise awareness and support for Project Hope for the Homeless, the only emergency shelter in Lake County. The community event will feature a post-race cook-out, live music, Bubbles n Swirls face painting, glitter tattoos, and balloon animals, plus a special appearance from a local hero.
Project Hope, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2018, is a 50-bed facility and provided shelter for 475 guests in 2017. Guests received emergency shelter, a hot dinner, light breakfast, packed lunches and weekly one-on-one meetings with a trained professional staff member who helps guests set goals and gives them referrals for more comprehensive treatment and care.
Online registration and race chip timing for the 5K will be conducted by Greater Cleveland XC. Sign up at: https://www.greaterclevelandxc.com/frog. The 1-mile walk will be an untimed event.
Cost for the 5K is $25 through Aug. 24 and $30 on race day. The price for the 1-mile walk is $15 through Aug. 24 and $20 on race day. In-person registration begins at 7 a.m. Aug. 25 with runners and walkers toeing the line at 8 a.m. at Kiwanis Recreation Park, 301 Latimore St., Painesville.
Participants in the 5K will proceed on an out-and-back course beginning at Kiwanis Recreation Park then to Mill Street and turn left onto Main Street and head east before circling into the Madison Avenue Elementary lot and then dashing back to the finish at Kiwanis Recreation Park. Walkers will enjoy a nice 1-mile walk within the park itself.
The top three male and top three female finishers in the 5K will receive overall awards. Age group awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the age groups: 14 and younger, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and older.
