He was hunted down by slave catchers and caught it Lake County and subsequently aided by local citizens in his escape. However, many people don’t know the significant role of Painesville …citizens in Milton’s story as well as their roles in the escape of 100’s of fugitive slaves through the Underground Railroad in Lake County.
